LabVIEW drivers - Haake DC50 circulator


Haake DC 50

The goal of this vi is to visualize upto 4 hours of measurements on the external sensor of a Haake DC50 circulator using the RS232 interface and LabVIEW.

Connection

The Haake DC 50 is equipped with a 9 pin RS232 connector. A cable to connect the Haake DC 50 to a PC should have either a 9-pin or 25-pin female connector on the PC side and a 9-pin male connector on the circulator side. Using a 9-pin to 9-pin cable, the cable layout is as follows:

Computer Circulator
RxD 2 2 TxD (transmitted data)
TxD 3 3 RxD (received data)
SG 5 5 SG (signal ground)
(data set ready) DSR 6 6 DTR (data terminal ready)
RTS 7 7 CTS (clear to send)
CTS 8 8 RTS (request to send)

The interface parameters are set as follows (default setting):

RS232 settings
baudrate 4800
databits 8
stopbits 1
parity none

Features

This version has the following features:

  • starts measuring once opened
  • collects one redout every 5 per seconds
  • writes tab separated files using [date] [time] [readout] format
  • updates (next) filenumber in .ini file
  • stores name of operator in .ini file
  • stores basic filename in .ini file
  • shows data history of upto 10 hours

Remarks

You may start the vi by clicking on the icon on the desktop. It will run automatically once loaded.
You can start to store data by pressing the 'Write to disk' button. WARNING: You need the same button to close the file!

This vi uses the T3 command to read the external sensor. Use the T1 command to read the internal sensor.
